I took on my first commission in 2012. Since then, I have traversed many industries - Documentaries, Charities, commercials, Science showcases, Youtubers and music videos just to name a few. In exchange for my services, I gained financial prosprity and lots of business experience.
It has been 12 years since that first commercial project! I'm still relishing the freedom of being an independent producer. Commissions have funded my travels across the world, and the production of independent animation projects. I understand the industry a lot more than when I started, but I remember what that first commission felt like. It can feel daunting to be an artist with the dream of turning pro. I was fortunate to have a mentor who taught me the staples of running a business. Many of my peers were taught to draw, but never had a mentor to teach them how to earn good money from their drawings. It's why they struggle. Their stories motivated me to create Turning Pro. |
